About Cupric Chloride Etchant

Holds 27-34 ounces of copper per gallon of enchant.
Has little or no odor.
Inherently high etch factor produces finer line widths and cleaner boards.
Is not carcinogenic.
Cupric chloride etchant is non-toxic when in contact with skin. If splashed, rinse with water.
When properly regenerated, cupric chloride etchant is a 1% acid solution which will not attack titanium etcher parts or dry film.
Lowest cost etchant per ounce of copper removed. Customers report between 2-7 cents per ounce of copper removed total cost.

Uses inexpensive chemistry:

(prices based on small quantity purchase in CA, USA)

kiln dried salt (NaCl) $0.20/pound $18 per 210 gallons of etchant.
Sodium Chlorate (NaClO3) $0.80/pound $132 per 210 gallons of etchant.
Muriatic Acid (31% HCl by weight) $0.14/pound $154 per 210 gallons of etchant.
Total chemical cost $304 per 210 gallons of enchant.

As stated above, higher volume chemical purchase and location of PCB shop play an important roll in cost. The above example shows how little the Vis-U-Etch process costs even for a very small PCB shop.

 * Trucking cost for recycle of spent enchant $330 per 1000 gallons of enchant.
Total cost $1.78 per gallon or $0.07 per ounce of copper removed.
 Easy to recycle.
*In California, other locations may pay less and some receive payment for spent etchant.
